Oncology

Overview

Western Private Hospital was the first private hospital to offer medical, surgical, chemotherapy and radiation oncology care at a fully accredited facility all on one site. Chemotherapy treatments are available for overnight and day patients.  This treatment is provided by expert staff in a modern comfortable facility.  The oncology day centre is an ambulatory (walk-in/walk-out) facility which enables patients to have treatment and in some cases to continue that treatment at home which provides the opportunity for greater independence.  Our Oncology nurses have many years of experience in oncology and haematology, offering a high standard of professionalism, clinical expertise and individualised care as well as providing education and information for new patients.

Counselling and pastoral services are available to support patients and their families.

Every effort is made to ensure a relaxed and friendly environment is created for our patients and their families.

Further information regarding the oncology inpatient or outpatient services can be obtained by contacting our experienced and helpful staff on (03) 9318 3177.

EJ Whitten Foundation

The E.J. Whitten Cancer Treatment Centre has been established at the Western Private Hospital in 1995 to commemorate the memory of Ted Whitten Senior who unfortunately passed away due to Prostate Cancer. The foundation has been established to raise awareness of prostate cancer and money to assist in research and treatment of the disease.

The E.J. Whitten Prostate Assessment Centre is located in Footscray.  Referrals can be made from a General Practitioner (GP) to a consultant urologist at the Centre. Diagnostic tests, treatment and follow up are all managed through the Centre and outcomes are reported back to the GP.  GP’s can make a referral by calling the Centre’s enquiry number on 9318 8080.  Western Private Hospital is very proud to be associated with the Foundation.
