Your own private doctor is responsible for your medical treatment while you are in hospital and is the person with whom you should discuss any questions you may have about your illness or treatment.
In addition, Western Private Hospital has resident doctors who can assist with your care when needed. They are available 24 hours a day; 7 days a week, so there are always doctors available to attend to your care.
At Western Private Hospital you will find a nurturing, highly collaborative environment where professional nursing care is provided by a team of registered nurses, clinical nurse specialists and enrolled nurses. Your Nurse Unit Manger is responsible for coordinating the patient care provided. You can ask to see the Nurse Unit Manager if you have questions regarding your nursing care.
Western Private Hospital is affiliated with Australian Catholic University and Victoria University and student nurses from these establishments will be involved in your care, under the supervision of registered nurses.
The nursing team involved in your care is here for you, so please feel free to ask any questions you may have, before during and after your stay. We can always be contacted by using the nurse call button located by your bed.
Western Private Hospital offers a comprehensive pharmacy service to all inpatients. Your pharmacist is available to discuss any of your medications and answer your queries whilst you are in hospital.
Our discharge coordinator will assess your needs beyond hospitalisation and if required will ensure that you are connected to the appropriate services to continue the care that you need.
Pastoral carers are interested in your wellbeing, so will listen carefully to you about the things that are important to you, and support you as you manage those changes.
Our pastoral carers are available to patients, relatives and friends can be contacted by phone on 03 9318 3177 or by asking your nurse to call. Your own clergy person is welcome to visit you during your stay and if you need a representative of your own faith to visit, the Pastoral Carer will be happy to organise that for you.
Other Health Professionals
During your stay you may be visited by other health professionals involved in your care such as Physiotherapists, Dieticians, Speech Therapists as well as staff from our providers of Pathology and Radiology.
Hospitality staff will clean your room daily and also deliver your meals. Any time you require transport throughout the hospital whilst you are a patient one of our Personal Service Assistants will assist you.
