Hospital Administration Manager (Patient Services)
Full-Time 38 Hours Per Week

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and enthusiastic person to join our team as Hospital Administration Manager. The role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the hospital’s office administration and patient services and is full-time 5 days per week generally working Monday to Friday with varying hours as you will be expected to cover staff leave.

This position will report to the Finance Manager and work closely with the Patient Accounts & Health Fund Contracts Manager and HIS Manager in order to maximise patient revenue whilst providing an exceptional patient services.

Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Rosters, staffing and supervision of administration staff ensuring that the patient admission, bookings, pre-admission, discharge, fund checking and switchboard are carried out in a professional, timely, appropriate and caring manner
  • To act as a role model of high standards, problem solving techniques and customer and patient interaction
  • Work collaboratively with the Patient Accounts & Health Fund Contracts Manager to ensure timely and accurate health fund billing, patient billing and receipting of payments
  • Liaise with clinical area managers in ensuring appropriate administrative support and coverage
  • Act as an advisor and resource person to administration staff and assist the team on the floor and covering staff leave as and when required
  • Actively participate in the establishment and management of new processes and promote change management for continued growth
  • Conducting and participating in department and other committee meetings
  • Assisting the team on the floor when needed in the front office various roles and covering staff leave as and when required
  • Conducting and assisting with internal and external audits regarding patient administration processes

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Experience in managing and leading a team; strong management or supervision skills are required
  • Understanding of hospital administration processes from pre-admissions to discharge including informed financial consents, private health fund eligibility, patient accounts
  • Knowledge and experience with private sector funding models (inc. Medicare, private health fund and third party billing) in a hospital or medical practice environment
  • Sound working knowledge of patient management systems (CSC WebPas / Genie / Karisma)
  • Excellent computer skills in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,  Outlook, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills as well as an ability to multi-task
  • Exercise initiative, judgement, problem-solving and decision-making
  • Professional and pleasant manners that foster a positive workplace culture 
  • Willingness and ability to learn and complete new tasks and the flexibility to embrace changes
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within the scope of the role
  • Minimum of three years experience in similar management or team      leader roles, inc. Front Office Manager/Team Leader, Patient Administration Services Manager, within a health care setting
  • Experience in managing and leading a team; strong management or supervision skills are essential
  • Flexibility in availability to work between the hours of 5am to 8pm due to the requirement to cover staff leave absences

Theatre Nurse Unit Manager (Perioperative Services)
Full-Time 38 Hours Per Week

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Theatre Nurse Unit Manager to join Western Private Hospital during an exciting period of growth. Your strong perioperative clinical skills and proven abilities in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with all staff and VMO’s, as well as your thorough knowledge of the standards and care requirements within the perioperative setting will be necessary in this role. You will be innovative in your approach to improving service delivery whilst managing three operating theatres, with a fourth on the drawing board, as well as the central sterilisation services department.

WPH is recognised as a provider of high level patient care and support in the west of Melbourne.  We are fully equipped for a comprehensive range of surgical procedures including general, colorectal, ear nose and throat, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, oral and maxillofacial, plastic & reconstructive, vascular & urology, and will also be doing cardiothoracics in the future.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Current AHPRA Registration, RN Division 1
  • Minimum of 3 years’ previous NUM experience as Perioperative Services / Theatre Nurse Unit Manager
  • Extensive and comprehensive experience working in Operating Theatres
  • Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and strong clinical skills
  • Experience in department coordination and staff management essential

CARDIAC TECHNOLOGIST (Grade 2 or 3)

PART-TIME POSITION  |  2 days per week

We have a vacancy for a Cardiac Technologist to join our friendly team in the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory.  The position is part-time 2 days a week and the successful applicant must have some flexibility and be able to be on-call on the days they are rostered to work.

Our new Cardiac Catheter Laboratory is a purpose-built “state of the art” facility which is equipped with the latest technology and is supported by a team of highly qualified and experienced staff, providing diagnostic and interventional cardiology services, supported by the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit.

The Cardiac Technologist will be responsible for performing cardiac tests requiring physiological measurements and analysis, haemodynamic recording and monitoring and technical troubleshooting, as well as other duties including catheter laboratory procedures, echocardiography, stress testing, holter and blood pressure monitoring, EPS/pacing and occasional pre-op ECGs – depending on qualifications and experience – working in a team or independently.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Tertiary qualification in Biomedical/Medical Science/Cardiac Technician OR equivalentCompletion of QUT or DMU OR recognised number of years in the profession
  • Current registration as an accredited medical sonographer (cardiac specialty) with ASAR
  • Minimum of 3 years postgraduate echocardiography experience in Australia
  • Extensive experience in invasive and non-invasive cardiac technology is desirable

We are looking for people who are experienced and have worked in Food Services / Catering departments within healthcare.  You will be part of a catering team who are responsible for the servicing of meals to patients.  You will be responsible for assisting the chef/cook with food preparation, preparing &  presenting food professionally, serving meals to patients, basic menu monitoring, food transportation to and from wards, replenishing refrigerator and pantry food supplies, ensuring cleanliness of food preparation area and disposing of unused food appropriately.

We are seeking experienced Theatre Technicians with a strong teamwork focus and effective customer service skills to join our Perioperative Services team.  You will enjoy working within a reputable and world class theatre environment with leading technologies and outstanding amenities.

A role that offers responsibility, challenge and the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and motivated multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for assisting Medical and Nursing Staff by performing a full range of duties.

Your duties will encompass providing assistance with patient handling, transportation of patients to and from theatres, positioning of patients (lifting and turning), setting up and managing theatre case set-ups in accordance with operating lists, displaying attention to correct handling and management of sterile disposable and non-disposable stock, collection and delivery of equipment, assisting in stock management involving ordering and stock rotation including linen and other non-medical supplies, assisting in emergencies and patient restraint and any associated cleaning and ancillary duties.

To be successful in this role, applicants must have the ability and willingness to develop their knowledge of various theatre instruments, equipment and infection control processes.  Key attributes sought are enthusiasm, good time management skills, a sound work ethic, clear communication skills and the ability to follow direction.  The ability to work as part of a team or unsupervised is essential.  Applicants will be expected to be able to manage the physical demands of the position and be willing and flexible to participate in a rotating roster and on-call duties as and when required.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Must possess a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Operating Theatre Technician)
  • A Certificate IV in Operating Theatre Technical Support would be desirable
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working in Australia as an Operating Theatre Technician
  • Sound knowledge of practices and procedures within a hospital operating theatre environment
  • Ability to apply quality control techniques and set up, program and operate complex equipment
  • Knowledge of manual handling principles and environmental hygiene standards an advantage

PATIENT SERVICES ASSISTANTS (PSA)

We are looking for people who have experience working as Patient Services Assistants / Cleaners / Orderlies to work at Western Private Hospital.  The PSA role is multi-skilled involving performance of duties across three of more functional areas of patient support services which include cleaning (sweeping, vacuuming, mopping and rubbish removal, toilet/bathroom detailing, walk behind scrubbing, steam cleaning, window cleaning, etc) and housekeeping, transport and couriering, ward support, perioperative support and patient support.

You will work cohesively as part of the Housekeeping Team in providing a clean and safe health care environment for our staff and patients whilst contributing to the delivery of a high quality housekeeping service at the hospital.

The successful candidate must be enthusiastic, have excellent communication skills, be willing to embrace changes, be able to work independently and as part of a team, have excellent customer service skills and well-developed verbal communication skills, have knowledge & respect for workplace safety, have the ability to maintain high standards of quality care, and be able to prioritise workloads in a changing environment, be flexible in their rostering and be able to pick up extra shifts.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance or Cleaning Operations (or equivalent)
  • Previous cleaning experience, preferably in a hospital setting is highly desirable
  • Sound understanding of the safe use of chemicals and safe use of equipment
  • Ability to follow directions and work unsupervised and as part of a team is essential
  • Flexibility and availability to participate in a seven day rotating work roster
